TROT TO TROPHY MOBILE GAME

Trot To Trophy is an educational mobile game developed by the distance education department of NC State University. The game was designed as a functional learning aid to accompany an online animal science course focused on equine health and care.

The team that came together to make Trot To Trophy possible was called Nine Oak Media and was a fairly small team originally consisting of nine people (myself included). I filled many roles as a 2D artist including: asset creation, animations, concept art, and UI design. As the lead 2D artist for this project, I was tasked with defining the visual aesthetic for Trot to Trophy and generating the majority of graphic assets used for minigames and animations.

Character Design

Aside from the assets needed to create your own character, I also designed most of the NPC characters and developed a style that spoke to the whimsical nature of our game. The major characters in T2T are: Emilio Quinn (the rancher), Tony the Pony, and the 3 Championship Rivals. Other characters in the game appear in different minigames to prompt hints or challange the player with pop quizzes.

Ui and Environment Design

Trot to Trophy is comprised of several minigames that test the player on their knowledge of nutrition, anatomy, equipment, and equine careers. As a group effort, many team members had the task of developing unique minigames to populate the app with. These are a few examples of UI work I did for the main navigation and a few minigames I helped develop. I also designed a total of 78 icons for achievements.
