Developed by indie game publishers, Puny Human, Galacide is a frenzied mash up of classic space shooters and bejeweled-like puzzle games. Up to four players can join forces to clear waves of obstacles, unlock ships, and defeat bosses. This was my first project as a concept artist on the Puny Human team and my contribution defined the branding and aesthetic of the game. From ship design to graphic design, I had the priviledge to get my hands on nearly all aspects of Galacide.

Character Design

 

These are the four characters in Galacide: Edrist, Konel, Ajax, and Bucket. They appear throughout the game with bits of dialogue that usher along the narrative. Each design has its own accent color to coordinate with the four player assignments.

Ships and Environments

 

These are some concepts for different environments for the game. Galacide has two major locations that you encounter, the Asteroid Mine and the Desert Scrapyard. Both of these places share a similar "man vs. nature" theme and are areas where the main bosses are fought.

UI and Graphic Design

 

As the sole 2D artist on the team, I was tasked with filling many different roles. Along with the concept art for characters, ships, and environments, I also contributed heavily to the UI design and branding elements of the game.
